Accessibility Statement

This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.


Introduction

Cley Hall is one of Spalding’s most historic hotels and has been transformed following a refurbishment. The Cley Hall Hotel is a unique 18th century boutique hotel full of character and history. A perfect place to stay whether you are visiting the area for business or for leisure purposes.

The hotel is situated alongside the river Welland.  Close to the town centre only a 4 minute walk from the main shops, restaurants and cafés. Although access to the centre for wheel chair uses would have to be by car as the river crossing is only accessed via a foot or road bridge. We have 24 bedrooms with 1 accessible bedroom located in the Coach House which is adjacent to the main hotel suitable for wheelchair users situated on the ground floor with step free access.  The en-suite bathroom of the accessible bedroom has a level entry shower with handrails fitted throughout e.g. Shower and toilet.

The nearest railway station is Spalding, which is 0.5 miles away (a 10-15 minute walk). Taxis are available at the station. If you require an accessible taxi this can be booked in advance, please contact the Hotel direct on 01775 725157 for details.

There is no direct bus to the Cley Hall Hotel although Call Connect Plus operate a service for disabled people, although strict conditions apply please call on 0845 234344 for information.

Car Parking and Arrival

There is parking on site which accommodates 18 cars alternatively the nearest car park has 100 parking spaces and is 100m/116yds from the main entrance. There is a charge of £2.00 all day until 6.00pm and is free between 6.00pm and 8.00am. There are clearly marked Blue Badge parking spaces which are available free of charge.

The car park surface at the side of the Hotel is tarmac whilst the parking at the front of the Hotel is shingle with a wide York stone path leading to the main entrance. Alternatively there is ramp access from the side car park for wheel chair users please contact the Hotel to gain entry as this door is locked and access is via a security system which is issued once registered at the Hotel. The door is manual 900mm and light to push open inwards. The car park is well lit at night which is on sensors.

There is a drop off point at the main entrance of the hotel, but with a dropped kerb. There are 2 steps leading to the main entrance. A portable ramp is also available. The main entrance door is manual, 900mm/35.5ins wide, heavy to push and opens inwards.

Porter service available 7am until 10pm but times may vary on quieter days.


Welcome Area

Reception is on the ground floor and has level access throughout. The floor surface throughout the lobby is marble. The area is evenly and well lit with overhead lighting and side lamps. There is a low level desk used for both check-in and check-out. A magnifying glass, pen and pad of paper are available on request. There is a choice of seating in the lounge area, which can be used as an alternative space for check-in. A familiarisation tour is available on request.


Bedrooms

There is 1 ground floor accessible bedroom located in the coach house adjacent to the main hotel

This can be reached via step free access from the side entrance through the bar lounge which is a carpeted area. This room provides specific facilities for guests with disabilities, these include:

Entry door is 900mm/35.5ins wide, light and easy to open.

Furniture can be easily removed or rearranged in the room if requested.

Twin or double is available as the bed is a pocket sprung zip and link bed. A sofa bed for use by a

personal assistant/carer or friend/family member is available in the room the room  the room does not have an adjoining room.  There is a transfer space of at least 1200mm/47ins on one side of the bed.

The height of the beds from the floor to the top of the mattress is 450mm/17.7ins.

Rooms are bright and evenly lit. Overhead lighting and bedside and table lamps are in the room. Additional reading lamps are available on request.

This, and all other bedrooms in the hotel, offers the following:

Lighting as above, good colour contrast between the floor, walls and doors, short pile carpet, all bedding is non-feather, widescreen digital television with remote control, subtitles, and audio description facilities. Bathrooms, Shower-rooms and Toilets en-suite.  The  ground floor accessible bedroom has en-suite bathroom providing specific facilities for guests with disabilities, these include:

Doors 900mm/35.5ins wide, easy to open. Level entry showers. The toilet height is 400mm/15.7ins.

The wash basin height is 800mm/31.5ins, with clear space underneath. Grab rails, horizontal and vertical, are fitted around the shower. Horizontal and vertical grab rails are fitted either side of the toilet. Lever taps are fitted on the washbasin and bath. Well lit with overhead lights and a fluorescent light over mirror. Good colour contrast between the doors, floor, walls and towels. The flooring is non-slip tile.

Public Areas

Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors and lounge

All public areas, halls, stairs, landings and lifts, are well lit using a combination of ceiling and wall

The lounge area is situated on the ground floor with level entry from the reception and main entrance area. The lounge and bar lounge doors are 900mm/33.46ins wide.  The rooms have a mixture of seating with sofas and soft chairs with and without arms as well as some stools, together with low coffee tables.

Lighting is natural daylight and by night levels are controlled by dimmer switches, with overhead and able lamps used as well around the room. The flooring in the lounge is sanded floor boards with a short pile central rug. The bar lounge has a short pile carpet.

Drinks are available in the lounge.

The nearest toilets are located through the bar lounge adjacent to the access ramp from the Coach House reception and include an accessible toilet.

Restaurant/Dining Room, Bar & Bar area

The restaurant and bar are situated on the ground floor with level entry from the reception and main entrance area.  Doors are 900mm/33.46inx wide which are normally open.

Both the restaurant and bar have level access throughout. The floor is stripped oak.

Tables in the restaurant are well spaced apart, with a clear height from the floor of 609mm/24ins, with upright chairs with arms. The bar area has a mixture of sofas, soft chairs and upright chairs with high and low tables. Service is usually at the bar, but drinks and food can be served at the table on request. Lighting is natural daylight and by night levels are controlled by dimmer switches, with overhead lighting as well as table lamps around the room. Candles are lit on tables. The flooring is short pile carpet. The lounge area has a mixture of sofas, soft chairs and upright chairs with high and low tables. Service/orders  can be made either at the bar or reception, but drinks and food can be served at the table on request. Lighting is natural daylight and by night levels are controlled by dimmer switches, with overhead lighting as well as table lamps around the room. Candles are lit on tables. The flooring is stripped pine floor with a rug.

We do our best to cater for any dietary requirements; please contact us in advance with any specific requests. Where possible all our food produce is locally sourced. Breakfast is a self-service buffet for starters and orders for main course are taken and served at the table. The buffet for starters is located in the adjacent room; however, staff will assist on request. Large print menus are available on request.  All staff can assist by running through menus with you if required.

Public Toilets

Public toilets can be found on: the lower ground floor with 13 steps down with access from the main entrance, reception, lounge, bar and restaurant areas. The lower ground also houses one of our meeting rooms called the Boardroom. There is also a toilet located on the ground floor which has been adapted for wheel chair users.

Grounds and Gardens

We have a beautiful garden at the rear of the property which is accessed by 9 steps although there is a separate external entrance to the garden which only has one step. There is a hard surface pathway which allows for wheelchair access around part of the garden.

Conference and Meeting Rooms

Our conference room known as the Welland Suite is located at the rear of the hotel and has a ramp access.  All doors are 900mm/35.5ins wide, light and easy to open. The room has natural lighting.

Overhead lighting can be controlled by dimmer switches. The flooring is laminate.

The nearest public toilet with an accessible toilet is located in the main hotel through the bar lounge

Additional Information

All of our staff receives regular training that includes disability awareness training.

We have a set of evacuation procedures – should you require assistance someone will come to your room and help you with evacuation either out of the building or to a refuge.

Room service is available 7.00am – 9.00pm. The nearest Hospital with an A&E unit and walk in

NHS facility is 3 miles away. The nearest doctor’s surgery is 0.4 mile away. Please contact reception for further information.
